On Thursday morning, the Iranian armed forces hit an American tanker in the northern part of the Persian Gulf.
Musavat.com reports that Iran's state television quoted the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
"A missile hit the US tanker in the northern Persian Gulf. The tanker was attacked this morning by IRGC marines and is currently burning," the statement said.
The IRGC previously stated that, according to international laws and regulations, control over passage through the Strait of Hormuz during wartime will be entrusted to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
