India cannot prevent the spread of the "Nipah" virus.

The Indian authorities have begun urgent measures to prevent the spread of the dangerous "Nipah" virus in the state of West Bengal.

According to the newspaper "The Independent," the number of people infected with the "Nipah" virus has reached five.

It is reported that in connection with the "Nipah" virus, Thailand's Phuket International Airport has intensified sanitary control measures on passengers arriving from India.

According to the publication, more than 100 people have been quarantined, and the infected patients are receiving treatment under medical supervision.

According to the information, one of the infected individuals had previously traveled to a city near the India-Bangladesh border. Authorities have established a special response team in the region to assess the situation and prevent the possible risk of an epidemic.

It should be noted that the "Nipah" virus (NiV) is mainly a pathogen spread by fruit bats. The virus can be transmitted from animals to humans and causes severe encephalitis as well as infectious diseases of the respiratory tract. In some cases, the mortality rate can rise up to 80 percent. The "Nipah" virus is recorded annually in various regions of South and Southeast Asia and causes significant human casualties. The virus was first identified in 1998, and since then, approximately 1,000 cases of infection have been recorded./AZERTAC
