Shortage of doctors: TƏBİB started the analyses

TƏBİB has begun analyses to eliminate the shortage of doctors in the regions and to efficiently allocate medical resources.

Medianews.az reports that this was stated by TƏBİB’s Deputy Executive Director Rahim Huseynov during an open dialogue meeting held in an informal setting with representatives of media entities.

He noted that by the end of the year, it is planned to eliminate the main part of the queue problem:

"First of all, we are working on forming a model for the organization of primary healthcare services. Once this approach is determined, phased steps will be taken regarding the placement and migration of doctors. Analyses on this have already started and concrete measures are being taken. I hope that by the end of the year, we will witness certain changes within the compulsory health insurance system."

Rahim Huseynov stated that the goal is not only to send specialists to areas with a shortage of doctors, but to distribute existing human resources according to need and efficiently:

"Currently, the supply of doctors, shortages, and surpluses in Baku and the regions are being analyzed. There are such medical institutions where, although doctors operate, their potential is not fully utilized due to the low number of visitors. Therefore, approaching the issue solely based on the principle of ‘there is a shortage of doctors, so send doctors there’ is not correct."

The Deputy Executive Director added that decisions regarding the placement of doctors will be made taking into account the real demand of the population for medical services and the efficiency of services.
