An analogue of the FBI is being created in Britain

The British government will create a new force, the National Police Service (NPS), to investigate the most serious crimes in England and Wales, including terrorism, organized crime, and fraud.

"Report" reports that The Guardian newspaper has published information citing Britain’s Home Secretary, Suella Braverman.

According to her, the new agency, described by the publication as the American Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) analogue, will take on responsibilities to combat serious crimes.

Currently, this task has been assigned to the National Crime Agency (NCA), regional divisions, and in cases of terrorism, to Scotland Yard.

"We will create a new National Police Service, called 'Britain’s FBI,' and will use the world’s best personnel and advanced technologies to track down and apprehend dangerous criminals. This will allow local law enforcement agencies to dedicate more time to combating crime at a new level."

The article says that the head of the National Police Service will be the highest-ranking police officer in Britain. They will also be responsible for the nationwide implementation of advanced technologies such as automatic facial recognition.

Meanwhile, Scotland Yard, which is the National Police Chiefs’ Council and its counter-terrorism unit, has issued a joint statement supporting the creation of the new agency. The Director General of the National Police Service, Graham Biggar, has also expressed his support.
