"This meeting is historically significant and progress has been made." This is what the US Vice President Mike Pence said after the first meeting with the Iranian delegation.
He stated that US President Donald Trump wants to open a new page: "We will move out of the period of regional instability. In the new future, everyone will work together. We see a future where we can promote peace and prosperity for everyone."
The Vice President noted that in the past few hours serious progress has been recorded in the talks between the two countries: "The main question is whether we can permanently change relations in the Middle East. Donald Trump is firmly committed to achieving a full ceasefire on a regional scale. Such ceasefires are always somewhat complicated. Technical talks may not resolve all differences, but for the first time in history, they allow the parties to come together as a team."
