At school number 121 located in Binə settlement, Khazar district, Baku city, relevant investigations have been initiated regarding the allegation of food poisoning.
Medianews.az reports that the Azerbaijani Food Safety Agency has issued this information.
It was reported that inspections were carried out in the school buffet and in the supplier institution, and food samples were subjected to laboratory examinations. According to preliminary information, symptoms of food poisoning were observed in 7 students who consumed croissants taken from the buffet. The students hospitalized in Infectious Pediatric Diseases Hospital No. 5 were diagnosed with "unspecified bacterial origin food poisoning," and after being provided with necessary medical aid, they were discharged home for outpatient treatment.
During the inspection, it was determined that the school's buffet operated without proper registration, there were no documents confirming the origin of the products used, and the storage conditions did not meet sanitary and hygienic requirements.
At the same time, an unscheduled inspection was conducted at the "Ləzzət" bakery and confectionery production facility located in Mardakan settlement, Khazar district, Baku city. During the inspection, significant violations of sanitary and hygiene standards were detected at the facility.
As a result of the laboratory examination of the collected food and smear samples, non-compliance was detected (E.coli, enterobacteria, and staphylococcus).
Based on the identified shortcomings, the operation of the school's buffet and the supplier institution was temporarily suspended. Administrative measures were taken against the school principal and the entrepreneurs, and corresponding protocols were drawn up. The materials collected regarding the incident were sent to law enforcement agencies for appropriate actions.
