A strong explosion occurred at the "Valero" oil refinery plant (NEZ) in Port Arthur, Texas.

After the incident, a thick cloud of smoke formed over the facility.
"In light of the recent explosion at the Valero oil refinery, an immediate order has been issued for all residents in the surrounding areas to take shelter in a safe place," the fire service stated.
According to the information, the plant which processes 435 thousand barrels of oil daily employs 770 people.
County Sheriff Zena Stevens stated that the preliminary cause of the explosion was an industrial heater. Authorities are monitoring the air quality around the NEZ.
No information has been received regarding casualties.
