In recent days, some pages operating on the "Instagram" social network have been offering users the service of "monitoring WhatsApp conversations of any number for 10 manats."
Musavat.com reports that these pages claim that after payment, a special link is sent to the user, through which it is possible to monitor the "WhatsApp" conversations of any phone number.
Some users, believing these promises, make payments to the indicated bank cards and try to get results. However, experts state that such offers are completely fake and carry serious risks.
According to experts, firstly, "WhatsApp"'s security system does not allow outsiders to monitor conversations. Such a "service" is technically impossible. The main purpose of these pages is to deceive citizens, seize their funds, and simultaneously steal personal information.
It is warned that through the sent links, malicious software may be installed on users' phones, bank card information, social network accounts, and personal messages can be seized. Moreover, attempting to monitor someone else's personal conversations is prohibited by law and can lead to criminal liability. Persons using such "services" may also bear legal responsibility.
IT expert Farhad Mireliyev said in an interview with Musavat.com that such advertisements are traps set by fraudsters to make money:
"We often encounter such advertisements. Some promise to erase bank loan debts for a fee, some promise to correct an unacceptable grade of a student at the university. Of course, all these are the work of scammers. A person capable of erasing a bank loan debt would take the amount directly from the bank and would not engage in such activity. Therefore, all these promises are lies and fakes."
The expert added that installing spy software on the other party's phone is also not realistic:
"It is not such an easy process. It is only possible if the phone physically falls into someone's hands or if someone living in the same house clicks on the link. Without the phone owner's knowledge, remotely and without physical contact with the device, it is impossible to obtain such information."
It should be noted that in recent times, cyber fraud cases have been increasing. These types of pages mainly try to exploit people's curiosity and suspicions to trap them.
