New Prime Minister in Japan

The lower house of the Japanese parliament elected Sanae Takai, leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, as prime minister on October 21.

Medianews.az reports that Sanae Takai, born in 1961, has been the chairperson of the Liberal Democratic Party since October 4. In previous governments, she held the positions of Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications, and Minister of State for Economic Security.

In Japan, a constitutional monarchy, the government is formed based on the distribution of powers in the parliament. The Liberal Democratic Party’s current coalition partner is the Innovation Party. The coalition holds 231 seats in the 465-member lower house.
