In most cases, it is not related to the reading of messages. The problem mainly arises from applications installed on the phone that carry viruses. These programs can alter the messages or files sent by the user and deliver them differently to the other party.
For example, when a user sends a photo to someone, virus-infected applications may alter the image during the sending process or replace it with other content. The main reason for this is the user's unintentional installation of unknown and untrusted programs on their phone. Thus, viruses are transmitted directly to the device by the user themselves.
Experts recommend for security to download programs only from official application stores and to delete suspicious applications from the phone.
