In recent days, various fake domains of phishing nature have been created and disinformation about the provision of targeted social assistance by the state has been spreading among the population through social networks and messengers.
Medianews.az reports that the State Service for Special Communication and Information Security has released information on this matter.
It has been stated that fraudulent websites have been created, especially using the name of the “myGov” portal, which belongs to the Digital Development and Transport Ministry of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Innovation and Digital Development Agency operating under it, targeting to seize citizens' personal data. Through said fake websites, attempts are made to capture identity information, user accounts, and important data such as bank cards.
The Computer Incident Response Center of the State Service for Special Communication and Information Security of the Republic of Azerbaijan (hereinafter the Center) has identified several such fake domains and, together with the relevant authorities, ensured their blocking nationwide. At the same time, the aforementioned fake domains have also been presented to the public through the Center’s “Blacklist.gov.az” platform.
"We recommend that citizens, upon detecting fake domains, add this information to Blacklist.gov.az – the platform for the protection of citizens from fake domains, use the relevant extension of the platform in their browsers to protect themselves from fake sites, and also be cautious against suspicious sites and links," the statement noted.
