Some habits that seem harmless in daily life can pose a serious risk to the lungs.
According to Milli.Az, in addition to cigarette smoke, drying clothes at home, not cleaning air conditioners, and using strong chemical cleaners can also negatively affect the respiratory tract.
According to Turkish doctor Melahat Bekir Külah, drying clothes at home increases humidity in the air and creates conditions for mold to form. Invisible mold can enter the lungs through the airway and cause serious infections.
The doctor stated that both active and passive exposure to cigarette smoke increases the risk of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Failure to clean air conditioner filters on time, insufficient ventilation of enclosed spaces, and uncontrolled use of chemicals such as bleach can also harm the lungs.
She noted that drinking enough water thins the mucus in the bronchi, protecting the respiratory tract and reducing the risk of infection. People who work in dusty environments using protective masks, as well as walking at least 40 minutes daily, help maintain lung health.
