The famous singer Hadise’s Ramadan video prepared for UNICEF has caused a great controversy in Turkey. In the video, Turkey was placed on the same scale as deep crisis regions such as Gaza, Sudan, and Africa, being shown among "countries in need of aid," which turned the singer into a target of criticism. Following the scandal, Hadise announced that she has cut all ties with the organization.
Milli.Az reports that in the video prepared for UNICEF, Hadise presented Turkey in the same category as war and crisis regions. This was harshly received on social media because it damaged Turkey’s profile as a "country providing aid" on the international stage.
The singer stated that the text used in the video was sent directly to her by UNICEF and that her sole purpose was to "spread goodness during Ramadan."
Hadise officially declared that she will act more sensitively in future aid campaigns, but that she no longer has any connection with UNICEF.
In her detailed statement, emphasizing her patriotism, the singer said:
"Since the day I represented my country at Eurovision at the age of 22, I have proudly defended Turkey on every platform. Turkey is a strong country with its government and nation, providing aid all over the world. During Ramadan, I call on everyone to stay away from hateful statements and polarization."
Hadise stated that from now on, any support she shows to children will continue completely independently, without being dependent on any organization.
