When you have a stomachache, do not do these - Gastroenterologist's WARNING

Pain in the stomach area sometimes occurs due to improper nutrition, but it can also be a signal of more serious health problems.

According to a report by Lent.az citing foreign media, gastroenterologists have explained what should not be done in such cases.

What do doctors avoid?

According to Shabnam Sarker from the Vanderbilt Digestive Diseases Center, identifying the cause of stomach pain sometimes takes a long time. But there is a rule that all specialists agree on: pain should never be ignored, especially if it arises suddenly.

Dr. Sunina Natu, the leading gastroenterologist at the Orlando Digestive Institute, stated that stomach and abdominal pain can be related to gallstones, stomach and duodenal ulcers, Crohn’s disease, irritable bowel syndrome, or appendicitis.

These conditions do not only cause discomfort but also affect the digestive process and bowel movement habits. "Every pain has a cause and should be approached carefully,” Natu emphasized.

When to consult a doctor?

The type of pain determines the next steps. If the pain is sharp and severe, it is important to visit the emergency department, as some cases may require surgical intervention.

Especially those with a family history of stomach, esophageal, or colon cancer should take symptoms more seriously. The following signs are considered danger signals: abdominal pain, bleeding from the rectum, traces of blood in the stool.

If the discomfort persists for weeks or months, the problem cannot be ignored. Doctors recommend noting the nature of the pain, possible causes, and accompanying symptoms – this facilitates an accurate diagnosis.
