Next decision in the criminal case
Regarding the criminal case under investigation at the State Security Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan involving Ramiz Mehdiyev and others on charges of "actions aimed at seizing state power," the next decision has been announced.
The involvement of Abbas Abbasov in the investigation and issuance of a search order
According to information obtained by APA, based on the materials collected in the criminal case, a decision was made to involve Abbas Abbasov, the former first deputy prime minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who for many years remained immune from responsibility due to Ramiz Mehdiyev’s protection, in the investigation of the mentioned criminal case, and a search was announced for him as he has evaded the investigation by being outside the country's borders.
Abbas Abbasov’s official activities and departure from the country
It should be noted that Abbas Abbasov served as the first deputy prime minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan since 1992. During this period, he chaired several state commissions. After being released from his position in 2006, he began residing in the Russian Federation.
Activities related to diaspora structures in the Russian Federation
During the past period, Abbas Abbasov engaged in disruptive activities to seize and influence Azerbaijani diaspora structures in the Russian Federation through various illegal means.
Creation and leadership of the “Billionaires Union”
He was the founder and leader of the notorious Russian Azerbaijani Organizations Union, popularly known as the “Billionaires Union,” established in 2012 (he did not forget to officially register himself as the founder of this organization).
Relations with Rustam Ibrahimbeyov and the “National Council”
Rustam Ibrahimbeyov, head of the “National Council,” which was formed at the beginning of 2013 in Azerbaijan with members including Ali Karimli and his circle, was also a member of the Coordination Council of the “Billionaires Union” directly under Abbas Abbasov’s leadership.
Statements in 2012 and events of 2013
Although as early as 2012, warning signals were issued about the establishment of the “Billionaires Union” being directed at political processes in Azerbaijan, Rustam Ibrahimbeyov appeared on behalf of the “Billionaires Union,” giving interviews to refute these accusations. The events of 2013, however, are well known to all.
Suspension of Abbas Abbasov’s entry to Azerbaijan
It is no coincidence that Abbas Abbasov, who previously came to Azerbaijan every month, stopped coming to Azerbaijan cautiously from the beginning of 2013 when the issue of forming the “National Council” arose, due to his activities.
Investigation materials and evidence to be revealed in court
According to obtained information, in accordance with agreements among the mentioned persons and organizations, funds transferred to Azerbaijan through various channels, audio and video recordings of promises made to participants in these agreements and processes at that time, materials related to meetings held abroad, and other materials about plans to forcibly seize constitutional state power in Azerbaijan have been seized and added to the criminal case, and they will be widely publicized during open court hearings.
