The essence of the semi-secret trip of US President Donald Trump's son to Turkey and his meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has become clear. Donald Trump invited Erdoğan to an official visit to the US on September 25. It appears that young Donald Trump discussed the details of this visit with Erdoğan.
Donald Trump, as a businessman, tries to gain political and economic dividends from the guests he invites to the White House or the countries he visits. Trump is interested in signing a bilateral trade agreement with Turkey, as with other countries.
Besides that, Trump wants Turkey to buy US-made "Boeing" airplanes.
Erdoğan also has reciprocal demands from Trump. Erdoğan is trying to reach an agreement with Trump regarding the sale of F-16 and F-35 military aircraft.
The previous US administration did not sell military planes to Turkey. Trump, however, seems ready to discuss the sale of military aircraft to Turkey as a businessman. Because this deal will bring additional income to the US.
The presidents will also discuss regional issues in Washington. Trump is not concerned about Turkey's growing role in the Eurasian region, including the South Caucasus; on the contrary, the operation of the Zangezur corridor is a matter of common interest for both countries.
