Advertisements featuring the photo of Honored Artist Jabir Imanov, who passed away at the age of 49 on September 29, promoting "Slavyanskoye" dairy products, still remain on the billboards at the stations of Baku Metro. Does the Metro plan to remove these advertisement billboards?

In response to the inquiry from Medianews.az, the Closed Joint Stock Company "Baku Metro" stated that according to the official contract concluded with the "Slavyanskoye" company, the advertisement broadcasting is carried out in accordance with the terms of the contract.
In response to the website’s inquiry, it was further emphasized that since the "Baku Metro" CJSC is not a party to the mentioned contract, it does not have the authority to intervene in the advertisement broadcasting process.
Medianews.az notes that some people do not consider it ethically appropriate for an advertisement featuring a person taken while they were alive to be displayed after their death and think it would be more reasonable to stop such advertisements.

Lawyer Akram Hasanov also told Medianews.az that in the current situation, that is, the advertisements featuring the photo of Jabir Imanov remaining in place, there is no legal violation: “Someone may debate whether continuing the advertisement is ethically appropriate, but legally, if the terms of the contract and obligations have not been violated, then there is no illegality. If the terms of the contract are violated, the deceased’s heirs can raise the issue of protecting rights. If the terms and obligations are not violated, the contract remains valid until the end of the agreed period. Generally, worldwide practice includes cases of using the photo of a deceased person in advertisements. This is observed more often in political advertisements. If a person participating in the advertisement dies before the contract period expires, but no violations are recorded in the contract terms, and the parties have fulfilled their obligations on time, for example, the remuneration of the person featured was paid on time, then stopping the advertisement can only be considered on ethical grounds; legally, there is no problem here.”
