An incident involving an aircraft belonging to Kazakhstan's "Air Astana" airline occurred during the scheduled flight KC-851 on the Almaty–Astana route on the morning of December 17.
According to AZERTAC, citing the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan, the crew of the "Airbus A321N EI-KDG" aircraft operated by "Air Astana" declared a MAYDAY emergency signal due to the detection of smoke inside the cabin.
The emergency signal was issued at 07:38 Astana time. The aircraft landed safely at Almaty airport at 07:40.
According to preliminary information, there were no injuries among passengers and crew members. To ensure safety, fire and rescue services of Almaty airport were involved after the landing.
Currently, employees of the Department for the Investigation of Transport Accidents and Incidents are conducting a more detailed investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
