In the first half of 2025, the number of pensioners in Azerbaijan increased by 5 thousand. According to the official report, as of July 1, there were 1,103.3 thousand pensioners registered in the country.
Medianews.az reports that at the beginning of 2025, the number of registered pensioners was 1,098.3 thousand.
In Azerbaijan, men retire at the age of 65, and women at 64 and a half. From July 1, 2026, the retirement age for women will also increase to 65.
For pension appointment, either 25 years of insurance experience or a minimum pension capital is required. The minimum pension capital is calculated by multiplying the minimum pension indicator by the number of months of the expected pension payment period (12 years, 144 months), currently amounting to 46,080 manat.
For persons who have accumulated any amount of pension capital from January 1, 2006, to July 1, 2018, their social insurance experience is automatically considered as 25 years; otherwise, persons who have reached retirement age receive a monthly age-related allowance of 220 manat. As of July 1, 2025, the number of those receiving age-related allowances was reported as 166.2 thousand.
Pensions are indexed annually on January 1 in accordance with the annual growth rate of the average monthly wage. In the first half of the year, the average nominal monthly wage of wage workers increased by 9.4 percent compared to the same period of 2024.
The minimum amount of labor pension is 320 manat.
