The league stages of UEFA club tournaments for the 2025-2026 season are being played. Two of the 8 rounds in the Champions League and Europa League, and one of the 6 rounds in the Conference League have been completed.
36 teams compete in the league stage of each of the three tournaments. Those who take the top 8 places will directly advance to the round of 16, while those placed 9th to 24th will have to go through the round of 32.
The Azerbaijani representative “Qarabağ” is currently 6th with 6 points in the Champions League league stage.
Medianews.az reports that currently England leads the club ranking. Italy, Spain, Germany, and France are also in the top five.
Among 55 UEFA members, Azerbaijan is 25th. Turkey is 9th, Ukraine 28th, Russia 30th, Moldova 33rd, Kazakhstan 34th, Armenia 35th, Latvia 36th, Estonia 43rd, Lithuania 45th, Belarus 48th, and Georgia 52nd.
The ranking is based on coefficients earned over the last five seasons of club tournaments. In the qualification rounds, a victory is 1 point, a draw half a point; in the subsequent rounds, a victory is 2 points, a draw is 1 point.
Teams in the Champions League league stage receive 6 bonus points; teams placing in the top 8 in that round get 6 bonus points, those placed 9th-16th get 4 bonus points, those in 17th-24th get 2 bonus points; from the round of 16 onwards, each stage grants 1.5 bonus points.
In the Europa League league stage, teams in the top 8 get 6 bonus points, those placed 9th-16th get 4 bonus points, those placed 17th-24th get 2 bonus points; from the round of 16 onwards, each stage brings 1 bonus point.
In the Conference League league stage, the top 8 teams get 4 bonus points, those placed 9th-16th get 2 bonus points, those placed 17th-24th get 1 bonus point; from the round of 16 onwards, each stage equals 0.5 bonus points.
The total points collected are divided by the number of country clubs qualified for continental tournaments and a coefficient is calculated with an accuracy of one-thousandth. Azerbaijan has achieved a coefficient of 4.875 this season.
