Official: food inflation has approached 8 percent

According to the report of the State Statistics Committee, in September, consumer prices in Azerbaijan increased by 5.7 percent compared to the same month in 2024, with food products, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco products rising by 7.9 percent, non-food products by 2.4 percent, and paid services by 5.3 percent.

Medianews.az reports that in 1992, prices in the country increased 10.1 times, in 1993 by 12.3 times, in 1994 by 17.6 times, in 1995 by 5.1 times, while inflation was 19.9 percent in 1996 and 3.7 percent in 1997.

The year 1998 ended with a 0.8 percent deflation, and 1999 with an 8.5 percent deflation.

In 2000, inflation was 1.8 percent; in 2001, 1.5 percent; in 2002, 2.8 percent; in 2003, 2.2 percent; in 2004, 6.7 percent; in 2005, 9.6 percent; in 2006, 8.3 percent; in 2007, 16.7 percent; in 2008, 20.8 percent; in 2009, 1.5 percent; in 2010, 5.7 percent; in 2011, 7.9 percent; in 2012, 1.1 percent; in 2013, 2.4 percent; in 2014, 1.4 percent; in 2015, 4 percent; in 2016, 12.4 percent; in 2017, 12.9 percent; in 2018, 2.3 percent; in 2019, 2.6 percent; in 2020, 2.8 percent; in 2021, 6.7 percent; in 2022, 13.9 percent; in 2023, 8.8 percent; and in 2024, 2.2 percent inflation was officially registered.
