On October 24, Moldovan President Maia Sandu nominated Alexandru Muntyanu for the position of Prime Minister.
Medianews.az reports that Alexandru Muntyanu, born in 1964, is a physicist known for his business activity in the investment sector. He is supported by the ruling Party of Action and Solidarity.
In the country, the government is formed by the party that holds more than half of the mandates in parliament. In the newly elected legislative body on September 28, the Party of Action and Solidarity, affiliated with President Maia Sandu, holds 55 out of 101 mandates.
Igor Grosu, the leader of the Party of Action and Solidarity, is the Speaker of Parliament. This organization supports Moldova’s close integration with the West.
Maia Sandu was elected president in the national elections of 2020 and 2024.
