He stated that it is very pleasing to defeat such a great team as "Benfica": "I congratulate all our people. This success was achieved thanks to the unity in the club. Benfica had not lost in their last 9 games. We managed to overcome them."
It should be noted that although "Qarabağ" was trailing 0:2 in the match in Portugal, they scored three goals to secure a determined victory – 3:2. This was the first win for Azerbaijani clubs in the main stages of the Champions League.
The representative from Ağdam will play their next group stage game on October 1st in Baku against Denmark’s "Copenhagen" team.
