“The increase in broadband internet speed in Azerbaijan continues.” Elvin Abbasov, Chairman of the Azerbaijan Information and Communication Technologies Industry Association, said this in an interview with Medianews.az.
He stated that as a result of infrastructure projects implemented in recent years, an increase in internet speed dynamics has been observed in the country.
Based on the September report of the global company "Ookla," which conducts broadband and mobile network analyses, Elvin Abbasov emphasized that broadband internet speed in Azerbaijan has significantly increased over the past 12 months, reaching an average of 84.02 Mbps: "This means an annual speed increase of 61%. The indicator in September of last year was 52.06 Mbps."
An increase in broadband internet speed has also been recorded for Baku city. Compared to the corresponding period of last year, broadband internet speed in Baku rose by 60%, from 53.14 Mbps to 85.28 Mbps.
The same progress is reflected in mobile internet speed. In September of this year, mobile internet speed in the country increased by 40%, reaching 78.34 Mbps. In September of last year, this indicator was 55.62 Mbps.
Mobile internet speed for Baku city was 72.19 Mbps in September of last year. The speed rose to 100.11 Mbps within one year. This represents a 39% increase. These indicators reflect the high demand for speed in the country.”
