Germany has surpassed the US in terms of the volume of military aid to Ukraine.
Musavat.com reports that with this information, Germany's Defense Minister Boris Pistorius spoke at the Bundestag (German parliament).
He said: "Taking into account the approximately 9 billion euros reflected in the budget, Germany is currently the largest sponsor."
At the same time, the minister noted that the US government is currently arming Ukraine through NATO's new mechanism PURL (Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List).
The PURL program was launched on July 14 by US President Donald Trump and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. According to this mechanism, NATO allies purchase weapons for Ukraine from American reserves.
According to Pistorius, the main task now is to strengthen Ukraine's industry and air defense, as well as "to protect everyone supporting Ukraine."
It should be noted that Germany is the second largest supplier of arms to Ukraine after the US: since the conflict began in Ukraine, it has provided Kyiv with more than 40 billion euros in various types of aid.
