“Base Metals” company, which illegally exploits gold and copper-molybdenum deposits in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, has announced that it has stopped its activities.
In the information released by the company, it was stated that the management of the company has temporarily suspended mining activities due to the action of Azerbaijani ecoactivists on the Lachin-Khankendi road and has decided to apply to international organizations for conducting environmental expertise.
It was noted that the appropriate structures of the UN and other relevant organizations were requested to organize the expertise in a short period of time.
Note that “Base Metals” company, which carries out the illegal exploitation of mineral deposits in Karabakh, is a subsidiary of the Armenian conglomerate “Vallex Group” and is one of the main “tax payers” of the so-called “government” in Khankendi. In 2002, the company “Base Metals”, registered in Liechtenstein, carried out the illegal exploitation of the “Gizıbulag” copper-gold and “Demirli” deposits near the village of Heyvali.
“Vallex Group” is chaired by Armenian businessman Valery Mezhlumyan, a Russian citizen, who was personally awarded the medal “for service to the country” by the former President of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan.(APA)
