CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas and his delegation have arrived in Armenia to study the situation on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border and prepare proposals for de-escalation, Report informs, citing the CSTO secretariat.
“On September 20, per the decision of the extraordinary meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council, a mission led by CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas arrived in the Republic of Armenia. The mission includes representatives of the CSTO member states, who are employees of the working bodies of the organization,” the CSTO secretariat said.
The mission is facing the task of “assessing the current situation, preparing a detailed report to the heads of the CSTO member states on the situation in the region and developing proposals for de-escalation” of tensions that have arisen in certain areas on the border with Azerbaijan.
The secretariat indicated that during the work of the CSTO mission, activities are planned to study and monitor the current situation in the border areas. The mission is also expected to hold meetings with the top political and military officials of Armenia.
