The Coordinating Council of British Azerbaijanis appealed to the Parliament of this country and the Minister of Internal Affairs Priti Patel regarding the attack of a radical religious group on the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in London, Committee of Diaspora told.
The appeal reads that Azerbaijan is a tolerant country and is against any radicalism, that Azerbaijani Community living in the United Kingdom sharply condemns the attack on the Azerbaijani embassy located on one of the central streets of London, and this vandalism act grossly violates the norms of international law, as well as Vienna Convention, and it is an aggression against state attributes, and territory of Azerbaijan: “We resolutely condemn it. Such actions will further strengthen the determination of our people to fight against the radical religious ideology and the oppression they are trying to impose.”
It is noted that this provocation reveals a gap in the issue of ensuring the security of the diplomatic mission and the host country should take security measures in accordance with its international legal obligations: “The Republic of Azerbaijan is a tolerant, secular state, which is against any religious extremism. This attack coincides at the same time with Azerbaijan’s further development of relations with the EU in the oil and gas sector to ensure supply to Southeast Europe, and reaching a decisive stage of peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan under the auspices of the EU, most likely it aims at eliminating these opportunities, to spoil the relations between the UK and Azerbaijan which is developing day by day and to present Great Britain as a non-stable country.”
Azerbaijanis living in Great Britain have demanded to remove the members of the radical criminal groups from the country in order to restore diplomatic, and political stability in the country.
