Today, Ukraine submitted the second part of the answers to a special request for EU membership, said Vladimir Zelensky, Ukrainian President in a video address, APA reports.
“Today we have taken a very important step on the road to the European Union. Ukraine has submitted the second part of the answers to a special questionnaire that each country must fill out. It usually takes months. But we did everything in a few weeks, “he said.
He emphasized that the document consists of thousands of pages.
“And today we had a conversation with EU Council President Charles Michel and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen about our integration into Europe. Ms. Ursula said she was impressed by the speed of our officials. She filled out the questionnaire,” Zelensky said.
President added that he expects Ukraine to receive a positive response in June regarding its EU candidate status.
Note that Zelensky signed a document on Ukraine’s membership in the European Union on February 28.
After a meeting with the President of the European Commission on March 18, Zelensky announced that an opinion on the application for membership of the EC will be prepared in a few months.
