For sustainable peace in the region, the countries of the South Caucasus must act together, the head of the Center for Strategic Planning of Georgia, political scientist Levan Mamaladze told the Georgian bureau of Report.
He was commenting on the visit of the country’s defense minister to Azerbaijan.
“The visit of Georgian Defense Minister Juansher Burchuladze to Azerbaijan is another indicator of our country’s peaceful policy in the Caucasus. The meeting of the minister with President Ilham Aliyev is also a striking example of steps taken towards peace. Some time ago, a similar meeting took place in Armenia. Armenia needs to be assisted in signing a peace treaty. The Georgian side is making great efforts in this direction,” the political scientist added.
Mamaladze expressed hope that trilateral meetings will begin soon and a peace treaty will be signed.
