Canada’s charge d’affaires in Russia, Brian Ebel, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said Russian Foreign Ministry, APA reports.
He faced harsh protest following Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly’s remarks about the regime change in the Russian Federation.
The Canadian diplomat received notice that such statements were inadmissible because they violated Canada’s obligations as a state party to the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, as well as accepted standards and norms of international law.
