8 people were shot and killed and at least another five wounded in a shooting attack in Jerusalem’s Neve Yaakov neighborhood, police and medics said Friday night, reports the Times of Israel.
The Magen David Adom ambulance service said its medics were treating ten victims. Five of them were declared dead at the scene.
Police said the suspected gunman had been shot.
Preliminary reports suggested the terror attack occurred in or near a synagogue in the neighborhood.
Dozens of officers were dispatched to the scene, police said.
Hebrew-language media reports said police were searching for possible additional suspects that may have aided the gunman.
A handgun apparently used by the attacker was found at the scene, the reports said.
Police did not immediately provide further details.
