Azerbaijan has issued a note to Russia.
In connection with clear anti-Azerbaijani speeches voiced by Armenian political scientists and experts of Armenian origin in “Great game” broadcasted in Russian Frist channel on October 20-21, questioning the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan and distorting the state map, the embassy has sent an official sharp protest note to Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation.
It has especially been stressed in the note that guests of the program provoke revanchist forces in Armenian community with their speeches to revive conflict, remained in the past, and they sow seeds of enmity between the two nations by clearly supporting separatism.
Embassy has brought to attention of Ministry that use of biased statements on public TV channel and allowance of obvious political provocations are contrary to Russia’s official position, which has been repeatedly sounded by President of the Russian Federation and reflecting support for Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity, at the same time damage steps taken in the direction of provision of long-lasting peace, stability, and security in the region.
It has been noted in the document that mass media representatives have a special responsibility in the prevention of provocations, which can cause tension in the fragile peace conditions and make the situation tenser in the region.
It was also regrettably emphasized that the host of the mentioned talk show and one of the direct participants of this “performance” is Vyacheslav Nikonov, a member of the “United Russia” faction, the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs of the Russian Federation. Such behavior of the representatives of the ruling party of Russia is contrary to the spirit of the Azerbaijan-Russia strategic partnership and alliance interaction, as well as significantly harming bilateral relations.
The embassy once again brought to the attention of the Russian side that the relevant provisions of the Declaration on allied interaction between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation of February 22, 2022, envisage joint efforts in the fight against separatism, reflecting a call to refrain from any actions that undermine strategic partnership and allied relations and from activities directed against the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of states.
The Azerbaijani side demanded that Russia take immediate measures to stop the provocative actions of Russian media representatives and prevent them from repeating in the future.
