During the meeting of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, with the Prime Minister of Romania, Nicolae Chuke, as a part of his official visit to Bulgaria at the beginning of October this year, the issue of cooperation in the field of energy with the region countries was discussed, and directions for expanding the partnership were determined, APA-Economics reports.
In accordance with these directions, Romania’s Romgaz company and SOCAR signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation within the framework of a visit of the delegation including Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov and the management of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR). to Romania on October 19.
The document was signed by Elshad Nasirov, the vice president of SOCAR, and Aristotel Marius Jude, the deputy director general of Romgaz.
The event held in this regard highlighted the important role of Azerbaijan in Europe’s energy security, and the development of relations with Romania in several areas of the economy. The sides noted SOCAR’s activities in this country and exchanged views on the possibilities of strengthening cooperation in energy, including renewable energy.
