A passenger of a Baku-Minsk flight, an Azerbaijani, born in 1958 – his name not made public – has felt unwell today, and he lost consciousness after a two-hour flight.
Report has learned from Belavia Airlines that the flight attendants sent a ‘search for doctor’ message on board and gave oxygen and ammonia to bring the passenger back to consciousness. Acting on instructions, the crew reported an emergency on board, and the flight made an emergency landing in Samara. Before the doctors’ arrived, the passenger was accompanied by a flight attendant who provided medical assistance.
After the plane landed at Kurumoch airport, a medical team pronounced the passenger dead. A forensic study will be carried out to determine the cause of death.
The airline offers condolences to the families and close ones of the deceased passenger.
Investigators started an inspection after the passenger’s death at the Samara airport, the Central Interregional Investigation Department for Transport of the Russian Investigation Committee reports.
